Resident Camp

WoHeLo and Welcome to Camp Hitaga
Uniquely situated on 161 acres in eastern Iowa, Camp Hitaga has forested trails, swimming pool, The Lodge (dining hall), WoHeLo Activity Center and riding stable.
Our coed programs for young people entering grades 1 through 12 offer a variety of fun and challenging activities. Our energetic staff are dedicated to helping campers learn about themselves and the natural world around them.
Campers choose their activities. Some options include:
- Arts and Crafts
- Swimming
- Archery
- Canoeing
- Drama
- Nature including Environmental Education
- Camping Skills
- Sports and Games
- Photography
- Horseback Riding (for an additional $5 fee per hour)
- Challenge Course
- Pottery
- Geocaching
- Hiking
Evening activities may include theme nights, dances, talent shows, pool parties, cookouts and campouts. Every camper will have the opportunity to cook a meal over an open fire and sleep under the stars (weather permitting). Each session ends with a traditional Council Fire.
2010 Schedule (June 20 – July 31)
Classic Camp
For campers going into 1st grade through 12th grade. Our Classic Camp is a traditional summer camp program where campers choose activities each morning such as arts and crafts, pottery, archery, canoeing, drama, nature including environmental education, camp craft, sports and games, photography and horseback riding at $5.00 per ride. Afternoons are spent hiking, swimming in the pool and playing games with cabin-mates.

Stirrups and Saddles
For campers going into 4th grade through 12th grade. We have basic, intermediate and advanced lessons which focus on riding skills and the principles of caring for and partnering with a horse.

Adventure Camp
For campers going into 6th grade through 12th grade. Treasure Trekkers, Survivor Challenge and Canoeing are special adventures for this age.

Leadership Programs
A two week Leadership Training (LT) program is offered to 10th graders and a three week Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is offered for 11th and 12th graders. The focus is on group leadership skills including group organization, motivation, program planning, team building and conflict resolution. LTs and CITs will have the opportunity both to spend time in activities together and learn camp counselor skills by working with younger campers.

Registration and Fees
Early bird registration fees are $295 for Classic Camp and Adventure Camp. Stirrups and Saddles one week session is $365. Detailed information can be found on our registration form. To sign up, please complete and return the registration form.
